North Korea Spies Used Fake US Firms to Hack Crypto Developers: Report
Cyber operatives from North Korea infiltrated the US corporate system to launch a malware campaign targeting cryptocurrency developers. According to Reuters, hackers established two fake companies—Blocknovas LLC and Softglide LLC—using fabricated identities and addresses in New Mexico and New York. A third entity, Angeloper Agency, was also implicated but lacks official US registration.
The operation is linked to a subgroup within the Lazarus Group, a notorious North Korean hacking unit under Pyongyang’s foreign intelligence agency. The campaign underscores the escalating threats to crypto infrastructure from state-sponsored actors.
